Cool, works with latest Kdenlive.  (Well, apart from that there are some 
significant scenelist generation bugs in cvs kdenlive at the moment)

The leak seems to be most noticable at the moment if you resize a clip on the 
timeline - I think Kdenlive is being inefficient again and re-sending the 
clip list everytime the size of a clip changes, but it does usefully 
highlight the bug.

(There are a few piave files that are showing up as "modified" on my machine 
though - nothing worth committing - so I'll have to verify with a fresh copy 
of piave).

It probably is worth a bug-fix release noting the number of people who have 
had difficulties compiling recently, although it might be worth waiting until 
those last few memory leaks are fixed, as they can cause my computer to 
thrash for several minutes before I manage to kill the offending processes. 

Again I need to verify this with a fresh copy of piave, but I still get this 
kind of output from top after using piave for a while (view with fixed font):
