Ok, it might be a couple of days before I update Kdenlive to be able to use 
the command - I am tracking down an optimisation problem at the moment. Well, 
I'v actually tracked it down, now I have to fix it :-)

To reproduce, Add a clip to the timeline. Now zoom out as far as possible (8 
minutes). Now drag the clip as far right as you can, move the timeline view 
so you can drag it some more. Watch that the further you take the clip, the 
slower Kdenlive gets. Reason? Sloppy drawing code in KRuler. I'm on the case 
:-)

I think that is fine.

I don't think it is necessary, it's not that difficult to tell people to 
install libxml++
