pulseaudio and jack don't work, but amarok locks the device otherwise.

Yes, it's something related with alsa, since it's only NON kde
applications that don not play any sound. Mplayer, and firefox are examples.

Don't know much about Jack's setup, but I do belong to the pulse-access,
pulse-rt and pulse groups.
