KWin problems

I know from the experience of others that this is largely so, but it's not on 
my laptop.  At the moment I'm experimenting, to try to find if it is 
particular effects that cause the problem.

'Dim Inactive' seems to be stable.  'Cover Switch' causes frequent freezes - a 
pity, because I do like that :-).  I'm testing 'Box Switch' at the moment.

I'd appreciate any pointers as to other investigations I should be doing.

FWIW, the laptop has an ATi Mobility Radeon X600.  I have read elsewhere that 
the latest ATi driver is actually best for this card, but I'm reluctant to 
move unless I have to, so I'm using Mandriva's packages for flgrx.
