Hello, Sam
Check out my other posts on this thread. To sum them up, I have tried
creating completely new user accounts - the fonts still look either not
nearly as good as they did before I upgraded from Fedora Core 6 to
Fedora 7 or they look just plain horrible. Also, this problem only
affects my Branch 3.5 from SVN install of KDE. I can put, let's say,
two instances on Konqueror on my monitor at once (one from Branch 3.5
SVN and the other default Fedora 7) and the fonts look great on the F7
instance and bad on the other:

I am now running with the .fonts.conf file that you graciously
attached to your last email. The above mentioned experiment with two
Konqueror instances open at once still shows the fonts looking WAY
better in the instance that is from the default Fedora 7 install.
Also, I don't normally run applications from the default version of KDE
that ships with Fedora Core (now just Fedora.) I have only done that
to illustrate this problem.

One can illustrate this issue in a timeline type format:
1. Fully functioning and updated Fedora Core 6 system. Beautifully
antialiased fonts in all applications (including terminal windows ran
while logged into my fully (then) current install of KDE from SVN
Branch 3.5 sources.
2. Installed Fedora 7. Created a brand new account for myself before I
even knew I was going to have this problem. Compiled and installed KDE
from fresh downloads (up to and including kdebase.) Did all of this to
a completely fresh path for KDE (meaning I did not just update my old
Branch 3.5 KDE install.) Result? Bad to horrible looking fonts.

Before I upgraded to Fedora 7, I could choose any TrueType font that I
had installed on my system and it would look beautiful in all
applications (except GTK1 apps, of course.) Now my fonts are still
beautiful everywhere except my Branch 3.5 install of KDE....

Here is a link to the beginning of this thread if you would like to
read more about my problem.

Thank you very much for your help :)
