What to do when KDE is unresponsive?

How do you know it's konq? Are you running Kopete? There is a known bug
(fixed in the latest version IIRC) that causes Kopete to freeze the
desktop. Further to Kevin's suggestion, you might also want to kill the
kdesktop process, as well as/instead of kwin.
