konqueror problems

Hi,
I have the following serious issues with konqueror web browsing:
1) I use a custom stylesheet for konqueror web, but it is largely ignored when
a web page specifies its own. The accessibility css takes over global
controll, as expected. How can I force my own style? Are there any example
stylesheets for Konqueror? (couldnt find any)
2) I use white text on black page background in a custom css. (How) can I
force a custom white background color ONLY for images? Mozilla allows it with
a dedicated chrome tag. It is mandatory for numerous annoying pages with
images having transparent bg and black information on it, e.g. math
equations. They render unreadable.
3) I enter the path to my own java env in the java config window, but still
some sites (presumably depending a lot on java) do not work (e.g. google
calender) saying that the browser is not supported (I use default
identification). I saw the java HowTo on kde.org, but it didnt shed any
light. What's happening?
Any hints for a Konqueror newbee switching from Firefox?
Thanks,
Dominik
