Nope, no-go on that one. I 'see' where the problem is in

~/.kde/share/config/session/kwin*

There are these entries:

If you notice anything having to do with kpager is '5'.  Thus the entry for 
no border for kpager is 'userNoBorder5=true'  as far as I can figure out 
anyway.  I've tried to manually edit this to a 'false' changing the session 
manager to login from a manually saved session, however that didn't work 
either.  Oh well, thanks for the attempts Jonathan, I appreciate the help.  
I'll just go back to running without it again, unless you have any more 
ideas with what I posted above.
