Thanks for the hint. Actually, the system backup which obviously caused this
trouble was part of my plan to update to 9.2. One of the reasons to switch to
9.2 were problems with USB on my 8.2 system...

I have tried deleting GBs in /tmp first and then see what comes out of this.
