Alarm Monitor Error

Let me first say I am not part of this list, so please reply directly.

I upgraded from RH7.2 to RH9.  After the GUI loads but before I can do
anything, I get a message box with the title "Alarm Monitor Error" with the
contents "Can't load docking tray icon".  After clicking OK, most functions
do not work on the desktop and the system tray never opens.

I am at my wits end and am about to install Windows instead.  Any help is
appreciated.
