Problems arising after dial-up to DSL switch

I recently went from a dial-up ISP to DSL and now I have problems with e-mail,
checking out when trying to buy on-line and logging on to a service site

I'm using KDE 3.1.0, Konqueror 3.1.0 and K-mail 1.5

The e-mail problem takes this form and, in addition to this address, occurs
with ALL aol.com addresses:

Skelton2hp at cs.com
Delivery failed
500 SYNTAX ERROR, COMMAND UNRECOGNIZED

Sent: (message data)
Received:500 SYNTAX ERROR, COMMAND UNRECOGNIZED

*************************
The 2nd and 3rd problems seem to be related

I've tried to shop on-line at 2 different locations. Each time I
click on "Check out," I get this message(I tried this location
multiple times):

An error occured while loading
http://www.mcssl.com/app/netcart.asp?Merchantid=24326&offerID=0:

Timeout on server
Connection was to www.mcssl.com at port 443

The login attempt generates the same response and lists the same port

Anyone have suggestions/cures?

Jim
