kde with LDAP users

I get nothing but:

"startkde: Starting up...
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used"

.. and it waits forever...
The background screen does change to plain grey.
