Shock, horror amongst Gentoo Linux users everywhere. ;)
Seriously - compiling KDE does have its advantages on a system
built entirely from source. I've certainly never experienced
such a fast performing and robust KDE installation on any binary
distribution (notably RH, MDK and SUSE before I switched to
Gentoo back in April).
