Re. kmail problem

I had the same problem until I upgraded to KDE3. I don't think it can be done 
with KMail under KDE 2. 

You need to either upgrade to KDE 3 and so get KMail 1.4 or find a different 
email program. I looked for such a program but could not find one. The 
closest I got was one that was based on Gnome and I didn't have the 
dependencies for it.

Perhaps the workaround I used would work for you too: I use Yahoo as my email 
service, but my ISP is someone else. Under KDE2 I had to send email via my 
ISP (who do not require authentication, presumably cos I am logged into them 
anyway) rather than through Yahoo.
