Restructuring techbase and userbase

And that has given me a present problem in userbase.  I accidentally set a 
path including '//'.  Moving the page looks correct, but I'm aware that it is 
a re-direct.  I don't mind creating a new page with the info pasted in, and 
I'd feel a lot happier if I knew that the incorrect page could be completely 
deleted.

I've just realised - I'm a Bureaucrat/sysop - and it says that sysops

Not create a redirect from the old name when moving a page (suppressredirect)

I wonder if that is automatic, or whether it requires a particular setting 
that I might have missed?

I want to hear the ideas :-)  I'm learning as we go along, and anything that 
makes it more efficient is of interest to me.
