Actually, W3C recommends to use CSS instead of tables. Tables are meant to 
display raw data (like numbers etc.) but not for layout purposes. Without 
tables and with CSS we can get a more flexible website. Move the menu to the 
right? No problem, just change the CSS and the whole website displays that 
change.

We really should separate content and layout. Suppose we decide next year to 
use eg. the Liquid layout, only the CSS needs to be changed. That saves us a 
lot of work! Heck, we can design our website now to let the visitor decide 
which layout he wants :-)
