Yeah so you're running the incompatible applet. Try right-clicking the up arrow
in systray -> settings -> you should see two "Instant messaging" applets,
disable the one that has the blue bubble and enable the one with two black
persons. That assumes you have the correct package installed though (I don't
know its name).
