As root, run the following (adjust the /usr/local/kde31 paths as needed).
ln -s /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/lib
ln -s /usr/local/kde31/lib/libkdefakes.so.4.1.0 /usr/lib
chown root /usr/local/kde31/bin/kcheckpass
chmod u+s /usr/local/kde31/bin/kcheckpass

For some reason when I lock my screen (by clicking on the little lock
icon), it won't let me unlock the screen using my password. I'm thinking
it is expecting the root password for some reason but of course I don't
have the root password. Anybody else have that problem or know how I can
change that?
