Hi !!

Thank you very very much to everyone for your vote!! I am very honored
by this task. And i promise i will not let you down.

My goal is to be able to release Solaris KDE timed with the official
KDE releases. Because khtml isn't fixed yet, i probably won't be able
to do that until 3.2. But once it is fixed, it should be much much
easier to maintain a consistent schedule.

One thing i am definitely going to do is repackage the distribution in
a friendlier manner. I am thinking of spliting the required libraries
into 3 different Sun pkg's: base, GTK and graphics. For KDE itself, i
would like to keep the packages consistent with the KDE modules. As a
side note, i have ported FAM to Solaris, so from now on, KDE will use
FAM.

The other thing i would like to do is provide a more flexible and
easier install. Sun pkg's can be relocated to a different directory
easily. The problem is with the *.la files, where paths get written
in for ltdl. But, i will provide a post-installation configuration
script, which will take care of editing these paths and setting them
correclty. This will all be done with an installation script.

As far as the /opt/sfw and /usr/sfw directory trees (which seems to be
the recommended location at CSW): i have noticed that Sun uses these
directories to install software. I am wondering if using these
directory trees would not create a conflict or a mess (by overwriting
things already there). Just things to think about.

I do have one question: how do i contact kde-packagers ? I looked at
the email distribution lists page and i can't seem to see it there.

Many thanks to everyone for your kind vote and support !!! :-)
