The first four characters should be unique to your company, such as your company's stock symbol. For example, packages built by Sun MicrosystemsTM all have "SUNW" as the first four characters of their package abbreviation.

Yeah, I know some of you do not care about this. But in a large corporate environment you do not want other people confusing a third party package for a SUN package. Not everyone is running KDE on an Ultra-10 in their cube.....
