Hi,
good news to here you're working on the pkg.
FWIW: Do you know epm? http://www.easysw.com/epm/
It's more or less a meta format that can produce pkg rpm deb etc formats.
I've found it very easy to understand and use.
For the file list I usually do : make DESTDIR=/some/where/else install
and use find to get the list of files.
