If you want to do this, maybe you'd want to just create a frontend to axel
which is an excellent download accelerator but is command line.
Or, you can add this to KGet, KDE's Download manager.

Just a short note here, KDE's KIO system can already make it possible to do
this. Just open any ftp server in Dolphin/Konqueror, and it will work :)
