Disclaimer: I have just recently begun using CVS HEAD KDE in preparation for
actually editing/enhancing some parts as neccesary for Utopios. Thus, I'm not
even a KDE developer (yet?) and there are many who might have better ideas of
good places to start.

First off, I would suggest looking at Junior Jobs, the most hated bugs, and
the most wanted features (all listed on the left-hand column of the main
bugs.kde.org page)

One bug that I've found *really* annoying is that Krfb's method of polling the
display eats so much CPU that it is effectively useless. The maintainer no
longer seems to care about Krfb, so the bug has just been sitting around
doing nothing. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79451
