PCL 3 is the language of the inkjet printers and will not work on a
laser. It is supported by HPIJS, "pcl3", GIMP-Print, and many other drivers.

"lj5gray" is also a PCL-6 driver, but a raster driver whereas "pxlmono"
is a vector driver. "lj5gray" is much slower than "pxlmono".

PCL 5 is the language of the LaserJet 3 and compatible models. It is
generated by the drivers "ljet3" and GIMP-Print.

PCL 5e is used by the LaserJet 4, many newer LaserJets, and by lots of
printers of other manufacturers. Drivers are HPIJS, GIMP-Print, "ljet4",
"ljet4d", and "lj4dith".

Older lasers (LaserJet, LaserJet 2, and compatibles) use the PCL-4
language. They use the drivers GIMP-Print, "laserjet", "ljet2p", ...
