kde 3.1.x margins error

I've to report a problem with kde 3.1.[3,4]. Whenever I try to print from a 
kde app (like kmal, konqueror, or even kopete), the margins are always wrong, 
no matter how I set up kprinter. the text il slightly out of right and upper 
margin, so some letters are missing.
If i print something using, say, mozilla, enscript, ecc... the margins are 
perfect, even if kprinter is used.
I've a HP 1200 printer, and I've also used alignmargins to be sure.
I've tried both pixelmono and PS ppd files, without changes.
I've looked in ML archives, but without success.

Any hint?
