(obviously) and there is a big problem with the main RSS resource not using 
Akonadi as a cache but as a permanent storage (old articles are not stored 
anywhere on the disk).

There is a /very/ out-of-date wiki page about the port:

Maybe someone who's actually using the akregator_port branch (/me looks in a 
general direction of krop :-) could update it a bit so that it would be easier 
for other devs to quickly check what has to be done and occasionally drop a 
patch or two.
