Most things were working, somehow - a few features are missing, like item expiry, but nothing critical there.
The biggest issues I had was some instabilities and "weird" behavior, mostly in relation to the resource and Akonadi, which I don't remember the details of though.
I also had the idea to have an online reader resource ready for the release - that was before Google Reader's demise was announced.
The tinytiny resource I was kind of a sunday afternoon experiment - IIRC I got basic item listing to work but didn't finish everything.

Sounds good :) It's not that entangled with PIM other than the Akonadi dependency.
I'd just give it a try and see ;)
All code is in the akregator_port branches of kdepimlibs, kdepim and kdepim-runtime, respectively.
