I don't know - but reading that bug report made me think of another line of 
investigation.  KMail still allows you to create a distribution list from 
addresses in a message.  OTOH, KAddressBook allows you to create a group, then 
select existing addresses to add to the group.  Which method do you use?

My group (which works) was created in KAddressBook.  It's possible that the 
old-style distribution list creation is the problem.

I will warn you, though, that from time to time my KAddressBook loses one or 
more addresses from a group.  I always check to see that all are on the list 
(in Contacts) before using the Group as an address.  I assume that this is a 
bug, but since I use a stable version, not 4.6 Kontact (which is not released 
by KDE as stable) it's not relevant to report the bug - it could well be fixed 
by now.
