Hi,
I lately really felt the need for an application which stores all my ideas,
collected information, todos, and makes it easy to manage them.
As i couldn't find any application which does exactly what i need, i figured i
have to scratch my own itch.
I'd like to shortly present my idea:
Target:
The app should allow me the write down random information quickly (which might
or might not have any relations atm. to anything else). It should be therefore
not necessary that i specify title or anything atm, but just write down some
random text (or store a photo, blogpost, mail, ....).
Later it must be possible to search for this information, and put it into
relation to other data (contacts, mails, other notes, websites).
Further it is possible to tag the data to create some kind of "topics".
Finally i must be able to create simple todos from this random data, which are
then displayed in korganizer.
The primary interface will be very basic, but allow to do all needed actions.
Plan is to have a quick interface, which doesn't require much interaction.
Primary aim is to provide a very quick way to store your ideas.
So as a follow up:
The app is a dump for random information, and allows to later relate the data
to other data, so finally we can have clear todo's including related
information, which allows get things done(c).
Points is to overcome the hassle of deciding where to store the data atm.
since it's i.e. just an idea and i couldn't decide in which file i want to
store the idea. It should also not interrupt me from what i'm doing atm.
To achieve this goal with a minimum of code, i plan to base heavily on nepomuk
and akonadi, and integrate of course with all existing pim applications.
I'm not yet quite sure if i got the concepts correctly, but as i understand
it, i would get all mails, existing todos, events (as soon as korganizer is
ported to akonadi), from akonadi. While for presentation of the stored data
(filtering), and all the tagging functionality nepomuk should be used.
KJots seems to be bound to the idea of folders and files, which is pretty
exactly NOT what i want, although i heard of plans to move it as well to
nepomuk (so i'm of course open to work together also there).
I found a blogpost Andrew Mason, an will check if he has a similar vision, so
maybe we can team up.
Please note that the idea is not older than 4 days, so no code has been
written yet, and i'm still in an early planning phase.
I'm currently collecting ideas, and getting in contact with akonadi with the
tutorials. I plan then to focus on the note part first, and integrating the
file storage mechanism later.
I wonder if i should start a techbase page to collect all the ideas?
I you have any ideas, suggestions, or simply want to help feel free to contact
me. (I'm subscribed to the pim and nepomuk mailinglist)
Regards,
Chris
