To put this into perspective: I talked to Daniel Stone on IRC today and asked 
him about the state of the request. We discussed it a bit, but I wasn't able 
to convince him to grant the request, because of concerns of some other 
people. They are mentioned in the bug report.

So we agreed that it would be better to document the concerns and close the 
request for now than keeping it in limbo for even longer.
