Might make sense to include an option to do polling, i.e. regularily checking 
for updates.

That would be write-only (updates only written to Google, not being read from 
there).
More a one way sync then usual resource behavior, i.e. Akonadi only caches 
data, it is supposed to be persistently stored on the backend.
Should be possible to provide a sync solution based on the same code.
