If it is jsut for downloaded/installed, some of the distributions have 
programs which collect such statistics, though this only covers systems where 
the user/admin has explicitly enabled it.

For Debian it is http://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=akregator
i.e. currently about 18% of participating systems have it installed.
