Thanks guys for the feedback.  At this point, we are willing to look at
contributing toward getting the integration handled.  Do you want to
look into some options?

If it is jsut for downloaded/installed, some of the distributions have
programs which collect such statistics, though this only covers systems
where the user/admin has explicitly enabled it.

For Debian it is http://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=akregator
i.e. currently about 18% of participating systems have it installed.
