Do you have the ability to use a VM at all or anything like that? I
can't write a patch because I'm not really a programmer (my title
notwithstanding :)) -- I'm also not sure where to start looking.

Is there some way that someone with a system exhibiting this bug CAN do
to help it get solved somehow without writing their own patch?
