Even with the best EQ you will never be able to compensate on the usual 
notebook speakers.
And if the speakers are good enough for no EQ being needed they are either 
from Bose or real Hifi-speakers in the size of your livingrooms stereo. 
Otherwise it is physically impossible for the normal laptop-speaker-size to 
transmit lower frequencies without distorting the higher ones...
