Duncan,

Your tip to try kcmshell was a great help to me. It's helped me become aware that there are many modules are available for customizing the kde desktop environment. I think there be one more kcmshell option/module for Mun to try to disable pop-up's when switching workspaces. The module is called “kwinoptions”.

kcmshell kwinoptions, brings up a window titled: “Window Behavior”. The default TAB is named: Focus. In the Focus TAB, the lower half of that window is named: Navigation. And the Navigation section has a “Show window list while switching windows” check box.

I thought this would be worthwhile for Mun to try (to deselect the check box). This was the only kde option I seen where they use the word “switching”, so I was hoping it may switch off the pop-up's for Mun.

One more tip. You’ve had Mun using kcmshell to bring up the many modules in an attempt to find where the disable pop-up's is configured. On my version of Linux and KDE software, I’ve also have a command called “kcontrol”. This command brings up a main kde control panel with all the modules available as a tree structure set of selections (Appearance, Desktop, Internet, Components, Peripherals, and more…).

kcmshell helped me understand all the many modules that are available. And kcontrol made it easier for me access those control panels. Perhaps, kcontrol is be available to Mun? Hope that helps… I’ve enjoyed reading all the detail you’ve provided.

Thank you,

Frank

"desktop" was in fact on the list. However when I run the
"kcmshell4 desktop" command, what comes up is the "Multiple Desktops - KDE Control Module" window. The only configuration options within are to set the number of desktops, and being able to name each of the desktops.

No tabs for other choices is present. Nor can I find anywhere else to make the changes. Searching for "switch" only brings up the orignal Desktop Effects page I previously mentioned.

I'm thinking that when I have some time, I will look into editing the KDE Theme I am using (Aya). Perhaps there is something enabled in there that triggers the popup for desktop switching.

Again, thanks very much for your insights and support!

Kind regards,

Mun
