Neither of my systems crashes when I removed it.  The first is Debian Lenny + 
KDE 4.2 from experimental on a 2005 custom-built desktop.  The second is 
openSUSE 11.1 + KDE 4.2 Factory-ish on a 2007 Dell laptop.
