[kde-linux] printer installation - cups error message

have you started the cupsd daemon?! try doing a /etc/init.d/cups (then
complete it with the tab key) status. if it shows it is started then
the problem is somewhere else. from what you're telling the problem is
either the cups daemon not being started or it not being installed.
