[kde-linux] Font size in Kmail

My newish Slackware 12.1 instllation suddenly started using small text 
in the body of each email. I went to the kmail setup and changed the 
body text setting to Bitstream Charter 16 pt. Then I made the same 
echange for the KDE desktop in general. The font is still tiny.
