[kde-linux] arts-1.5.6 refuses to build

Hi All,

I've tried building arts both by hand and using the konstruct scripts 
and in both cases it
configures fine but halts with errors early in the compile.

I'm using

qt 3.3.7
perl 5.6.1
linux from scratch ("distro") www.linuxfromscratch.org
automake 1.6
autoconf 2.60

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if I should have 
found the answer online
I've tried lots of google searches but it seems I'm doing something
