[kde-linux] Kontact/KMail Freezes

I've searched for this problem and the only recent reference I've found
is a problem with someone needing to change their theme, and I don't
see how that could effect this.

I use spam filters (with SpamAssassin) on KMail/Kontact. I'm using
KMail version 1.9.1 and Kontact 1.2 in KDE 3.5.2 on Kubuntu Dapper
Drake. Whenever KMail tries to retrieve e-mail and it goes through the
spam filter, Kontact freezes up completely. If I'm writing e-mail to
someone or making a post on a newsgroup, I can often type 3-5 lines of
text while it's locked up, but when it finishes, the text "catches up"
with me. If I'm reading an e-mail, I have to wait before I can scroll
down and if I'm doing anything with the mouse or GUI, it locks up and
nothing can happen.

I remember when spam filtering was first added this was an issue and I
read that it was being fixed, but I'm still having trouble with it.
This is moving past irritating and getting to the point where it is
almost making KMail and Kontact unusable in my work setting.

Is there some way I can deal with this?

Thanks!

Hal
