When using a local IMAP server, as the other two posters already suggested, 
you can still use KMail to sort your mail by using a disconnected IMAP 
account type.

Btw, on the matter of e-mails: I recommend not to hijack an almost three weeks 
old thread for am absolutely unrelated question ;)
