Hmm, don't know any :(
Actually I though it already used extensions and MIME magic only as a fallback 
when there is no extension or when the extension is ambiguous.

The stat'ing could be something different as well.

Better ask on kfm-devel, the mailinglist for Konqueror development.
But it might take a while until you receive an answer, a lot of the developers 
are currently busy at aKadamy 2005
