Noone else beside you commented, hence my "noone else cares", sure people may 
care and not comment because they are silently agreeing, but man you don't 
need to get defensive on that.

No, sorry, you can't change dependencies in a frozen and released branch, this 
is KF5 only material and at most for Applications 14.12 release.
