It was meant that the release team releases apps from Extragear
simultaneously with the KDE release if the author requested it. I haven't
seen it actually happening (didn't watch it closely) so I cannot tell if
it is done.

If not, the procedure would be to just copy all the files over to an SVN
checkout and commit it. You would have to watch the SVN repo for commits
and if someone commits a change, change it in Git as well.

> I'm fine with any solution, but don't want to force a game into kdegames.

It's not forcing. A chess game is one of the ever awaited inclusion. The
reason I told you to go with the Extragear approach in Git was that I
consider creating new repos in SVN undesirable and that there is no
Games main module in Git yet. My thought was o move Knights to kdegames
as soon it arrived on git.kde.org if you still wanted it.

Unfortunately I forgot to think about the release and that Knight will
not be part of the kdegames release tarball in this case. Thus the idea
with the copying-over approach. But maybe I miss something again, so
I want to have some more feedback. :)

Yep. I think it's a good idea to add it now. The discussion will still
have to be continued but then we have more option. So please add it,
if you desire Knights being a part of the kdegames module for 4.6.

Surely you have the choice to remain indepentent for now and ask the
release team if they can release Knights as stand-alone app from Extragear.
