Just a comment about this: I want to make kbtv2 and kopete work together so 
that anything that "plays" though kbtv2 can be used for kopete webcam. 
Possibly, it will hinge on simply grabbing pixmaps via qt4 (with kbtv2 GUI 
itself being the "my webcam" view), at least for a first start. If you can 
shove in qpixmaps (not qimage) at the right stage, you can avoid costly 
conversions in kopete webcam handler.

This is from what I know about kopete3, I assume kopete4 doesn't really differ 
all that much. Except of course that the functions used will (eventually) be 
phonon standardized. I'm not sure if any v4l stuff is already in phonon 
proper, I don't think so.

Anyway, I'm still in beta stage with kbtv2 (of course everything works great 
here, but there's still plenty to do/fix). I want to dip into the phonon 
stuff once phonon becomes part of qt, e.g. after (py-) qt-4.4 release.
