in kcontrol, look for the file association module, and change the mime type 
for text files.

See above.
Other way to change the mime type is rmb clicking on a *pl-file, choose 
[properties], klick on the button [edit mime type] and change the 
association.

See above, make sure that kwrite is the uppermost associated app in the list.

You need to make sure that de size of your desktop is the same as the size of 
your screen.

You can only copy and paste between applications in the current X11-session, 
not between multiple X11-sessions.
