Hi Alessandro,
to add on Nate's great answer: You might want to have a look into
incubating projects. Usually they have only few developers and if one of
the skills you can offer is lacking in the project, you can make even
bigger contributions. There it is easier to shape a project compared to
the well established parts of KDE.
