Think about it: some of the kuniqueapplications must be relying on their 
uniqueness to access resources that mustn't be shared. Not all of them will 
have additional locks like kmail does.

As for the "you're already running", this is actually worse: the application 
would exit immediately with success and a new window would show in the other X 
session.

Current discussion in the dbus mailing list is that it wouldn't be deprecated.
