Problem will be solved by the GUI Platform Plugin in Qt 4.6.

QApplication will load a new plugin that sets the defaults in all Qt 
applications, including the file dialogs, but also other standard dialogs. This 
will allow the style to focus on doing what it's supposed to do: style, not 
dialogs.

This means kio will be loaded into each and every Qt app in a KDE system, as 
it should be.
